NASCAR Winston Cup I grew up on stock car racing, first by cheering on Richard Petty and Cale Yarborough during the 70's on television. Believe it or not, I have only attended three NASCAR Winston Cup races, all at Watkins Glen (NY), 1987, 1988, and 1999. My current favorites include Petty Enterprises, Jeff Gordon, Ken Schrader and Kurt Busch. |

Formula One Formula One - The Art of Motor Racing! I knew nothing about the globe-trotting circus until watching the 1993 Hungarian Grand Prix to cheer on Michael Andretti. The only names I was familiar with were Ferrari and Jackie Stewart. Whilst I still enjoy stock cars, nothing can compare to my love of F1 and the technology, money, and intrigue involved. The highlight for me was attending the 1998 Grand Prix of Monaco! Good bye Budweiser and meatball sandwiches, hello Campari and caviar! After my hero, Johnny Herbert, retired from F1 in 2000, I now cheer for Juan Pablo Montoya and Jenson Button.

Dirt Late Models My first heroes on the rough and tumble dirt tracks included Skip Furlow and Dale Albanesius. Scraping mud from the underneath of Dale's cars was an honor for me, and I was sad when both retired from driving a few years ago. I do not follow dirt racing as much as I used to, but my favorites are Freddy Smith, Chub Frank and Dick Barton.
Sports Cars It has taken me longer to become a sports car "nutter," but I am thrilled to now be a member of the club. I remember as a kid hearing about and seeing on television the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but paid little attention to it. Now one of my goals before I die is to attend Le Mans. My favorite driver is Johnny Herbert (Audi, ALMS) and I love to attend historic and vintage sports car races at Watkins Glen (NY). |
